The “Forensic Medicine – Psychiatric Forensics” Postgraduate Program offers a unified curriculum structured into two (2) academic semesters of full-time study, with the third semester dedicated to the completion of the Master’s thesis. The curriculum includes seven (7) mandatory courses in the first semester and seven (7) mandatory courses in the second semester. During their studies, postgraduate students are required to:
a) Attend and successfully pass the courses taught,
b) Participate in clinical laboratory research and clinical case studies,
c) Complete a Master’s thesis, which may be a review or research-based project.
The academic program (1st semester of study) begins in February of each academic year and concludes in June of the following year. Exams for the corresponding courses of the curriculum are held during the last two weeks of the first and second semesters. The thesis is conducted in the third semester, from mid-September until the last ten days of January.
The language of instruction for the Program is Greek, and the thesis can be written in either Greek or English. All related processes (announcements, selection process, course schedule, examination process) are conducted in Greek.
To receive the Postgraduate Diploma, students are required to complete 90 ECTS credits.
The start and end dates of classes, as well as the duration of examination periods, are determined by the academic calendar or by a decision of the Department Council or the Program Committee and are published on the Department’s and the Program’s websites.
All courses in the first and second semesters are conducted remotely via Zoom and, in special cases, in-person, if deemed necessary by the teaching staff. The courses are also available on the e-learning platform, where students can access announcements, educational materials, dates, and submit assignments. The e-learning platform is managed by the Program Director.
The curriculum may be modified based on a well-founded proposal by the Program’s Coordinating Committee, depending on the needs of the courses and the availability of instructors. Any changes are announced in a timely manner, and students are promptly informed.
