Admission Requirements and Application Process
The School of Medicine of the faculty of Health Sciences at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.) announces the admission of up to forty-five (45) postgraduate students to the Postgraduate Program (M.Sc.) titled “Forensic Medicine – Forensic Psychiatry” for the academic year 2024-2025.
The purpose of the program is to train postgraduate students in Forensic Medicine and Forensic Psychiatry. This goal is achieved through the education of all relevant health professionals, legal experts, and security personnel.
The duration of the program is three (3) full-time academic semesters, including the completion of the Diploma Thesis, and leads to the awarding of a Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) in “Forensic Medicine – Forensic Psychiatry” upon the successful completion of the Thesis. Each semester’s course program lasts for thirteen (13) weeks, consisting of one-hour/two-hour weekly lectures, intensive seminars, and assignments, depending on the course requirements and the instructor’s choice. The M.Sc. program is credited with 90 ECTS according to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System and does not offer specializations but provides a unified curriculum.
The language of instruction and the thesis is Greek. The start of classes is scheduled for February 2025.
Courses are delivered remotely, with exceptions for a limited number of practical courses (mainly in clinics, morgues), which require in-person attendance, depending on the course’s needs and the student’s choice. Attendance is mandatory.
Eligible applicants for the Postgraduate Programs include:
- Holders of first-cycle degrees from domestic universities or recognized equivalent institutions abroad (Article 34, paragraphs 1, 7, and 8 of Law 4485/2017).
- Members of the E.E.P., E.DIP., and E.T.E.P. categories, provided they meet the requirements of the first paragraph of Article 34 of Law 4485/2017, may enroll as over-the-limit students, with only one such member allowed per year per M.Sc. program organized in the Departments of the Institution where they serve, and the program must be related to their degree and work.
