The annual number of admitted students to the Postgraduate Program “Forensic Psychiatry, Psychiatric Forensics” is defined with an upper limit of forty-five (45) postgraduate students, with priority given to the following composition/ratio: (12) from the field of Medicine, (12) from Law, (12) from Security Services or graduates of Military Schools, and (9) graduates from Schools other than the above or professionals from other services, not included in the above. If the number is not filled from the aforementioned groups, it can be supplemented from the remaining ones.
The program cannot operate with fewer than twenty (20) postgraduate students.
Selection is based on the candidates’ curriculum vitae (evaluation of documentation) and an interview by the Admission Selection Committee, composed of the Director of the Postgraduate Program and two (2) members of the Faculty of the same or related subject who belong to the Postgraduate Program Senate.
The objective of the Postgraduate Program is to educate postgraduate students in the advancements of the scientific field of Forensic Medicine and Forensic Psychiatry, as well as in legal issues that arise from the interdisciplinary nature and govern the application of the principles of these two knowledge domains.
The purpose of the Postgraduate Program is to provide education to postgraduate students regarding contemporary scientific developments in the realm of Forensic Medicine, Forensic Psychiatry, and their practice. This purpose is achieved through the education of healthcare professionals, legal experts, and security personnel who are involved in monitoring the physical and mental health of individuals and have the responsibility to ensure peaceful and unobstructed social living for citizens.”
The Postgraduate Program “Forensic Medicine – Psychiatric Forensic“ is accredited with a total of 90 ECTS according to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System. It offers a unified study program and is structured into two (2) full-time academic semesters, with the completion of the postgraduate thesis taking place in the 3rd semester. The study program includes seven (7) mandatory courses in the 1st semester (30 ECTS in total) and seven (7) mandatory courses in the 2nd semester (30 ECTS in total). Finally, the master’s thesis is worth 30 ECTS credits.
*1 ECTS credit corresponding to 25 hours of workload.
For enrollment in the Postgraduate Program, a total tuition fee of four thousand (4,000€) euros is paid. The amount of tuition fees and the payment method can be adjusted upon the proposal of Postgraduate Program Board, decision of the Assembly of the respective Department, and approval of the Senate of the respective Institution. The payment of tuition fees is made by the student themselves or a third party (individual or legal entity) on behalf of the student, to the designated bank account of the Special Account for Research Funds – E.L.K.E. A.U.Th., in two equal installments: the first installment upon enrollment and the second installment before the start of the second semester. After the payment of tuition fees, a payment receipt is issued and electronically provided to the student.
